Landmark Sotheby’s expands to the Outer Banks

The affiliate office will be led by CEO Daniel Malechuk and founder and principal broker, Nick Phillips.

North Carolina-based luxury residential real estate brokerage Landmark Sotheby’s International Realty is opening a new office in Duck, the company announced on Monday. The affiliate brokerage is operated by Sotheby’s International Realty, a subsidiary of Anywhere Real Estate Inc.

The affiliate office will be led by CEO Daniel Malechuk and founder and principal broker Nick Phillips, who operate several offices throughout coastal North Carolina, specializing in luxury and waterfront real estate.

“Expanding into the Outer Banks has been a goal of our firm for a long time,” said Phillips. “We believe the Outer Banks real estate market holds tremendous potential for the Sotheby’s International Realty brand in the years to come.”

Landmark Sotheby’s International Realty operates as a luxury residential real estate brokerage, spanning the North Carolina coast from Virginia to South Carolina. It has offices in Morehead City, Topsail Island, Wilmington, Southport and Ocean Isle, a release says.

The Duck office marks Sotheby’s International Realty’s sixth office location and 21st affiliated office in the state.

Two of the region’s top-producing agents, Heather McLay and Melanie Day, and their teams will join the office. The pair have a combined professional experience of more than four decades in residential real estate.

“Their teams have consistently led the region’s luxury market and have recently produced over $150 million in closed sales volume,” said Malechuk, in a statement.

“The coastal areas of North Carolina continue to see increased interest, and the Outer Banks are no exception,” said Philip White, president and CEO of Sotheby’s International Realty. “Landmark Sotheby’s International Realty’s strategic expansion into an ever-popular market will further enable them to exceed the wants and needs of their clients.”

“I am thrilled to be able to offer my clients the global recognition, reach, and exposure provided by the Sotheby’s International Realty brand. We will be able to offer a personalized concierge level of service, exceeding our clients’ expectations, with the most powerful and recognized real estate brand in the world,” said McLay.

“Over the course of my career, I have prided myself in providing an elite level of service to my clients in every transaction,” said Day. “I am excited to be joining Landmark, which aligns with my commitment of delivering the very highest quality in every aspect of the real estate process. Sotheby’s International Realty provides the best tools and resources in the industry.”

Each of Sotheby’s International Realty’s offices are independently owned. It currently operates in 81 countries and territories, with more than 1,000 offices and 26,000 brokers. In 2021, the firm closed more than $204 billion in sales volume. It also ranked on the 2022 REAL Trends “The Thousand” Individuals by Sales Volume list.
