Zillow offers a new home selling solution with Opendoor

Home sellers can now request both an estimated sales price and an Opendoor cash offer on the Zillow platform

Looking to make the most out of its partnership with Opendoor, Zillow is now offering home sellers in select markets a new selling solution, according to an announcement on Wednesday.

People looking to sell their homes in Raleigh and Atlanta can now simultaneously request both a cash offer from Opendoor and an estimated sale price for listing their home with a Zillow Premier Agent.

“A recent Zillow survey found nearly a third of Americans were surprised by the emotional toll of selling their home,” Matt Daimler, Zillow’s senior vice president of product, said in a statement. “We want to simplify the process by providing sellers all their home-selling options in one place. Customers can now easily get both a cash offer from Opendoor and a market-price estimate to sell on the open market with a local Zillow Premier Agent partner on Zillow– and then make the decision that works best for their situation.”

According to Zillow, customers can explore their selling options themselves or work with one of Zillow’s licensed advisors. Once a seller chooses their sales path, they have the option of utilizing Zillow’s other real estate services, including financing their new home purchase with Zillow Home Loans, closing with Zillow Closing Services, and working with a Zillow Premier Agent to purchase their new home.

“Selling a home can be stressful and full of unknowns for many people, but selling to Opendoor is simple, certain, and on the homeowner’s timeline,” said Brian Tolkin, Opendoor vice president of product. “With this new Opendoor experience on Zillow, consumers can explore their selling options and choose one that meets their needs.”

The firms said the new product experience will launch in other markets in the coming months.

In August 2022, Zillow and Opendoor announced a multi-year partnership.

“We know choice is important for customers and they can make the best decision when they see all of their selling options up front — including selling on the open market with a Zillow Premier Agent partner and getting a cash offer from Opendoor,” Jeremy Wacksman, Zillow’s chief operation officer, said in a statement at the time. “This exclusive partnership will pair Zillow’s audience and brand power with Opendoor’s selling solution in one easy place, so customers can evaluate their selling options and easily package it with other Zillow services to buy and finance their next home.”

Zillow is set to announce its Q4 2022 and full year 2022 earnings on Wednesday evening.
