Today’s RealTrending podcast features Bobby Bryant, CEO and co-founder of Doss, a real estate brokerage and technology company that offers a flex model and an artificial intelligence assistant. Doss is a Google Start Up company and recently received funding from Amazon, as well.

Here is a small preview of today’s interview with Bryant. The transcript below has been lightly edited for length and clarity:

Tracey Velt: Tell me how Doss got started, why it’s a technology company and what makes your model unique?

Bobby Bryant: We looked at the data. What’s happening and how can we solve those problems? That’s what kicked off Doss as a technology company does is a real estate technology company. We wanted to create a better way to search and wanted to offer a solution to centralize, democratize and humanize housing data.

We wanted to go beyond the box that you see on the most popular search sites, and you see a you know, a search. And then that just evolved to solving real estate brokerage problems. That means not taking just an agent-centric approach, which is what most brokers are doing, but really going after it from the aspect of an agent and consumer-centric model.

As far as a flex model, how do we give more options, and meet agent’s individual needs, we didn’t want one-size-fits-all compensation model.

Tracey Velt: You mentioned at the beginning that you started as a real estate tech company. You talked about your home search and you’re back by Google and Amazon. So what does that mean?

Bobby Bryant: I do believe that there’s a difference between tech company and and a tech-enabled company. A tech-enabled company uses third-party service providers. We actually build our own technology.

We have almost twenty engineers and developers on our team. We want to customize our own solutions from our search all the way down to our CRM. We came in contact with Google, and they were very interested in what we are building and now their developers and engineers work closely with us to develop our digital assistant and technology.

RealTrending features the brightest minds in real estate. Twice a month, brokerage leaders, top agents, team leaders, and industry experts share their success secrets, trends, and lessons learned navigating this ever-changing industry. Hosted by Tracey Velt and produced by Elissa Branch.
