Robyn + Rachel Group returns to Sotheby’s after a year at Compass

Four-person team, which produced $104M in sales volume in 2021, cites market factors and corporate restructuring at Compass as reasons for leaving

Top-producing Pacific Northwest-based team the Robyn + Rachel Group is returning to Realogics Sotheby’s International Realty (RSIR) after entertaining a “one-year, exploratory contract with Compass” in 2022.

The team, which is helmed by Robyn Kimura Hsu and Rachel Schindler, had been licensed with RSIR since 2019. In a press release, the team cited “market factors and corporate restructuring at Compass” as their reasons for leaving.

“We are reminded that the most important brand attributes of legacy, trust, and culture must be earned, and cannot be bought,” Dean Jones, the president and CEO of RSIR, said in a statement. “This past market cycle has witnessed disruption and innovation, which we respect and contribute to, but connection and collaboration with our entire team are paramount.”

Schindler added: “As market-wide sales volumes contract, it’s critical for us to expand our market area while also providing a white-glove service level, whether that’s around the corner or around the globe. This is the only international real estate brand that can deliver on this promise with consistency and continuity.”

In rejoining RSIR, Kimura Hsu and Schindler have been reinstated into their roles as founding member of the Mercer Island Branch of the firm. Kimura Hsu, a long-time resident of Mercer Island, said she is looking forward to helping develop RSIR’s newly opened branch office on the island.

Schindler will also join RSIR’s Strategic Advisory Council for Business Development. In this role she will help curate opportunities for agents to build teams, explore referral networks, and build a brand within a brand for future retirement planning.

“I’m excited for what’s next for the Robyn + Rachel Group, powered by a proven support team at RSIR,” Kimura Hsu said in a statement. “Given my due diligence working in several different real estate brands, I’m comforted by the commitment of RSIR’s local ownership, a dedicated commitment to supporting their agents, and enduring brand legacy. This is a people business, and culture matters to us and our clients.”

In addition to Kimura Hsu and Schindler, the Robyn + Rachel Group also includes Jill Smith as broker and client services manager and Maddie Bates as operations and marketing director. In 2021, the team generated $103.165 million in sales volume, according to RealTrends data.
