City Real Estate and Polaris Realty merge in San Francisco

Independent, San Francisco-based teamerage City Real Estate merged with Polaris Realty. Both are partnered with Side.

Independent real estate teamerage City Real Estate has merged with fellow residential real estate company Polaris Realty. The company will retain City Real Estate’s name and operate out of City’s flagship office on Divisadero Street. Both City and Polaris are partnered with Side.

“City will continue to provide the same exceptional service, now with greatly expanded resources for our agents and greater reach for our clients thanks to the added firepower of the team coming over from Polaris,” said David Cohen, founder of City Real Estate, in a statement.

The merger allows the expanded firm to continue it’s growth path more quickly. In 2022, the teams at City and Polaris combined completed 324 transactions for $541 million in volume. City Real Estate ranked No. 23 in California by transaction sides in the 2022 RealTrends + Tom Ferry America’s Best Real Estate Professionals. Polaris was No. 83 by transaction sides.

Although headquartered in San Francisco, City Real Estate now covers the entire Bay Area including Marin, Oakland, and parts of the Peninsula. Cohen, who has sold over $100 million in real estate each of the last four years, and has a career sales volume of over $1 billion, will maintain his position as president of the newly merged company. Founder of Polaris Realty Ron Abtaz will take on the role of vice president at City Real Estate and continue his sales business.

“We pride ourselves on being boutique even as we grow,” said Cohen, in a statement. “We are a local company that deeply understands the intricacies of our San Francisco and Bay Area markets.  And through our partnership with Side, we’re able to provide our agents and clients with the marketing, technology, and nationwide network of a massive firm.”
