Tech Roundup: Commute Time Filter, ADT Goes Into Prop Management; House Buyers’ New Portal

Realtor.com launches Commute Time Filter

Commute times often figure into the house hunt, which is why Realtor.com has launched its Commute Time Filter on iOS. The filter provides buyers an enhanced ability to search for homes by both rush-hour and off-peak commute times and is designed to help buyers understand how long it will take to drive to and from work before pulling the trigger on a home purchase.

Commute Time Filter

According to a recent survey of more than 600 realtor.com® users, buyers would choose to sacrifice various home amenities in exchange for a shorter commute. Forty percent of the respondents are looking to reduce their commute time by up to 45 minutes.

Chung Meng Cheong, CPO for realtor.com, says their commute time filter “gives buyers the ability to toggle between rush hour and off-peak commute times. With a more holistic view of their drive to and from work, people are able to make more informed decisions about where to live, and hopefully reduce some unnecessary stress from their daily lives’.”

After entering a basic search of bedrooms, bathrooms and location on the realtor.com® iOS app, users are able to filter listings that match their preferred commute time. These times are offered in 10-minute increments up to 60 minutes or more. After a maximum acceptable commute time is entered, all of the available homes that match their search parameters and commuting distance will populate.

The Commute Time Filter will expand to the company’s Android app, as well as web and mobile web.

House Buyers of America Rolls Out Web Portal

House Buyers of America has launched a new, feature-rich web portal, which opens access to deals on wholesale properties to all investors, with real-time notifications and the ability to make offers online.

House Buyers’ web portal has two sections: one featuring renovated homes for sale to homebuyers and realtors; the other wholesale-priced properties targeted to investors. It also offers:

  • Real-time, direct access to House Buyers’ property listings, and notifications of new entries;
  • A dynamic, user-friendly interface, with a database to support millions of listings nationwide to scale with House Buyers’ growth;
  • Direct access to view properties directly, on their own time. Homebuyers no longer need to be at the mercy of a real estate professional’s schedule.

“Our new web portal is designed with our end users in mind, to empower them to shape their real estate journeys, on their schedules,” said Nick Ron, CEO of House Buyers of America. “We have received increasing demand for a platform that can deliver direct, real-time access to our latest property listings, and we are proud to launch our robust platform, primed to scale as we grow nationally, while also supporting our homebuyer, investor, and Realtor partners.”
