Tracey Velt: Tell me about some of the challenges that you’re seeing coming down the road and what are some misconceptions that people have about wholesale mortgage?
Vince Parlove: So this is going back a little bit, 2006, ’07 or ’08, you know what I mean, when the crash happened. I personally believe that the independent mortgage broker maybe got a little bit harsher rap than they should have. There are some unscrupulous people, there’s no doubt about it. But as you and I know being in this business for a little while, there’s unscrupulous people on both sides of the fence all the time. Now, that’s dissipating. I think people are seeing that independent mortgage brokers are a viable option. So the challenges, I think, are still fighting that a little bit.
I think that if there’s one thing that folks listening to this are going to take away, is that you must give yourself options. Rightly so, a mortgage is a scary thing, right? But give yourself options. Have two or three people compete for your business. If you do that, it opens up more, I think it would be great for everybody involved in the transaction.
