REAL Trends + Tom Ferry Announce 2020 The Thousand 15th annual real estate ranking advertised in The Wall Street Journal

Today, REAL Trends + Tom Ferry, as advertised in The Wall Street Journal, publish the 15th annual The Thousand list of America’s top 1,000 real estate sales professionals, teams and agent- and team-owned brokerages. An abridged list of the designees is publish in today’s edition of The Wall Street Journal and a complete listing is available online at www.realtrends.com/rankings/rt1000.

REAL Trends + Tom Ferry The Thousand, is an annual, national awards ranking sponsored by REAL Trends—the Trusted Source—and Tom Ferry International coaching, advertised in The Wall Street Journal. Designees are recognized as the top one-tenth of one percent of more than 1.4 million licensed Realtors® nationwide.

The Thousand includes additional categories and breakouts to highlight all the variances in the real estate industry. This year, there is a new category called Agent-owned brokerages and Team-owned brokerages which encompasses those top individual agents and teams who own and direct their brokerages. Many of them also qualify to be ranked on the REAL Trends Nation’s Best Brokerages, which ranks the top 1,700 plus brokerage firms in the country.

We also segmented teams by the number of Realtors® they have on their teams—small (2-5 licensed members), medium (6-10), and large (11+) teams. “You asked, and we listened. We changed the ranking categories to allow for a more accurate and equal representation of successful agents and teams based on size and business models,” said Steve Murray, president of REAL Trends.

“The REAL Trends team set a precedent for what success looks like in our industry with The Thousand list,” says Tom Ferry, founder of coaching and training company Tom Ferry International. “We’re honored to partner in recognizing these talents and will continue to help agents fulfill their greatness.”

METHODOLOGY

REAL Trends The Thousand awards program was developed by REAL Trends, a leading source of analysis and information for the residential real estate brokerage industry, in partnership with Tom Ferry International, a leading real estate coaching and training company. The Thousand honors America’s finest real estate professionals and their companies and is compiled and analyzed by REAL Trends.

Rankings are compiled based on surveys from virtually every national branded network, state and local associations of Realtors®, multiple listing services, all applicants from past years’ rankings, and the 900 largest brokerage firms in the United States. Verification from an independent source is required for all submissions. In addition, REAL Trends senior staff reviews every submission for completeness and accuracy.

We continue to ensure accuracy in these reports but also realize that given the disparity of the types of agent and team models, absolute consistency is not always achievable.  We’ll continue to perform superlative due diligence on the type of agent or firm applying to be ranked and the volume of business they closed.  We know that there are agents and teams who either chose not to be considered for these rankings or who we haven’t been able to reach.
