Kristen Ankerbrandt to Join Compass as Chief Financial Officer

Following $400m Series F, Real Estate Technology Firm Appoints Carlyle Group Technology Leader to Oversee Acquisition Strategy and Accelerate Growth.

NEW YORK, Nov. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Compass, a real estate technology company, today announced that Kristen Ankerbrandt will join as Chief Financial Officer. Ankerbrandt will accelerate the firm’s financial strategy and oversee all financial functions, including acquisitions and investor relations, as well as new development and legal. Ankerbrandt will start on November 26th and report into Founder and Chief Executive Officer Robert Reffkin.

Ankerbrandt’s hire follows Compass’ impressive $400 million Series F funding round and several other executive hires in 2018, including Chief Marketing Officer Khurrum Malik from Spotify, Chief Revenue Officer Matt Rosenberg from Eventbrite and Chief Sales Strategy Officer Michael Coscetta from Square.

Year to date, the firm has closed significant acquisitions, including Pacific Union, Paragon Real Estate Group, and the product and engineering team of Spring; launched in Houston, Nashville, Austin, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Seattle and San Diego; added more than 5,500 agents; and opened more than 100 new offices in over 80 cities across the United States. Compass is on track to grow revenue by almost 200% this year.

Ankerbrandt has nearly 20 years of global experience across the technology and media and Telecommunications sectors with deep industry expertise in software and tech-enabled services. Most recently at The Carlyle Group, Kristen led technology investments for Carlyle’s $18.5 billion fund, and oversaw the firm’s multi-billion dollar investments in a number of premier technology companies around the world.

Prior to Carlyle, Kristen worked at Goldman Sachs in the Investment Banking Division where she focused on technology, media and communications transactions. Kristen holds a BA in Economics from Columbia University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
