Colmar began his real estate career in 1980 in Chicago. He acquired a small 40 agent independent company of two offices in 1982 and grew & acquired numerous other companies. In ‘89 he became a Coldwell Banker franchisee and expanded into Indiana and Michigan. In 1998 he sold the 18 office, 600 agent company to the NRT, relocated back to California (San Diego) where he served as Regional Senior V.P. for Coldwell Banker Real Estate (NRT) responsible for all NRT operations in San Diego County.

He began Colmar & Associates, a real estate consulting practice in 2000. He has served as an Associate Editor of REAL Trends and was the creator editor of the Annual Broker Performance Report. A frequent speaker and facilitator, he covers a broad range of topics dealing with strategic planning, profit generation, fiscal and operation reviews and management. Colmar’s clients are further served with his knowledge and experience in financial operations, valuations and mergers/acquisitions. Colmar also serves as Executive Director of four large CEO idea sharing groups in the real estate brokerage industry, one of which he began in 1990.

Colmar has a broad experience in governance and management having spent 10 years as director and chairman of a hospital board, 10 years as a Director and committee chairman of a publicly traded bank, 11 years as a board director of a private national home building company and past involvement in numerous charitable organizations.  Coupled with a 13 year career in municipal government prior to engaging in real estate provides depth to his consulting practice and an extensive experience for his clients. He maintains a California real estate broker’s license, currently serves as a board member and President of the Paso Robles Horse Park Foundation (an equestrian center for hunter/jumper competition) and is a wine grape grower in the Central Coast of CA.

He actively pursues pickleball, swimming, skiing, vineyard production and a few other interests. He holds a BA from San Jose State and MS from Western Illinois University.
