ERA Real Estate, a global franchising leader  announced the results of their national “Feed the Need” campaign in collaboration with Move For Hunger, a non-profit organization that mobilizes the relocation industry to reduce food waste and fight hunger. 74 ERA® affiliated brokerages, representing more than 160 offices and over 6,000 agents, collaborated with Move For Hunger to collect a total of over 53,506 pounds of non-perishable food items, the equivalent of 44,588 meals, to fill food pantries in advance of the holiday season.

“ERA’s dedication to fighting hunger in communities across the country has resulted in an incredible partnership,” said Adam Lowy, founder and executive director of Move For Hunger.

“It’s been amazing to watch the collaborative efforts between our organizations as we’ve come together to effect change on such a vast scale.”

Nearly 42 million Americans lack reliable access to affordable, nutritious food. 1 in 6 children in the U.S. are considered to be food insecure. Meanwhile, 40% of the food produced every year is wasted. By providing people with the opportunity to donate their food when they move, Move For Hunger offers a sustainable solution to this massive problem. ERA’s extensive network combined with its culture of collaboration and giving back have resulted in the initiative having an impact that has gone above and beyond expectations. For four weeks, boxes filled with canned foods, granola bars, pasta, cereal, peanut butter, and other such items were taken directly from ERA brokerages straight to local food banks and pantries.

“We are so thrilled by the outpouring of generous donations and willingness to help feed those in need in our communities,” said Stephanie Reyna, national vice president of growth & engagement for ERA Real Estate.

“Our affiliates have been creative in incentivizing their agents, employees and clients to get involved. The results are streaming across social media in order to further awareness of the human need in their communities and the role we can all play in helping out.”

Wyoming-based ERA Priority Real Estate is an ERA brokerage that is emblematic of the spirit of the nationwide campaign. They collected an outstanding 65,237 food items totaling an outstanding 33,540 pounds. Neubauer Real Estate, Inc., based in Panama City and Panama City Beach Florida, is another example of brand’s “all-in” culture — agents from ERA Neubauer eagerly participated in the Move For Hunger efforts despite their office having been completely destroyed by Hurricane Michael just a month prior to the campaign’s kickoff. Other impressive efforts were made by ERA Valley Pro Realty, based in Visalia, California, which offered a free bowl of pozole, a traditional Mexican soup, to anyone who brought in three or more cans of food as well as Knipe Realty ERA Powered based in Oregon and Southwest Washington, who collected an impressive 772 pounds of food.

The Feed the Need Campaign officially kicked off on Tuesday, November 27, also known as #GivingTuesday, and formally ran through December 11. However, due to the high volume of donations and overwhelming public interest, donations were accepted through December 21.
