{"id":466,"date":"2020-03-05T07:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-03-05T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.realtrends.com\/blog\/2020\/03\/05\/nimby-vs-banana-the-state-of-housing-today\/"},"modified":"2025-03-13T02:03:20","modified_gmt":"2025-03-13T02:03:20","slug":"nimby-vs-banana-the-state-of-housing-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.realtrends.com\/blog\/2020\/03\/05\/nimby-vs-banana-the-state-of-housing-today\/","title":{"rendered":"Nimby vs. Banana: The State of Housing Today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>How special interest groups are impacting affordable housing.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>While it\u2019s not a laughing matter, sometimes one does chuckle at the state of the country concerning the lack of housing inventory and affordability challenges, which in great part is due to lack of inventory.<\/p>\n<p>Most will be familiar with the term <strong><em>Nimby<\/em> which stands for <em>Not in My Back Yard.<\/em><\/strong> The reluctance or resistance of people and various interest groups to always be in favor of affordable housing development just as long as it is \u2018not in my back yard.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Now comes the all-too-true view of residential (and commercial) development in a growing number of metro areas around the country.
