Ryan Gorman<\/a> was going to do next. Gorman answered that question on Thursday in his first public statement since leaving Coldwell Banker. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@m.ryan.gorman\/housing-affordability-time-to-move-from-talk-to-traction-dcb4fb4b79f6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">post on Medium<\/a>, Gorman revealed that he has shifted his focus to affordable housing projects and homebuilding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen neighborhoods lack broad diversity, truly mutual understanding is impossible,\u201d Gorman wrote on Medium. \u201cWhen access to housing is not equitable, access to opportunity is unequal. And when the roof over one\u2019s head is insecure, even total certainty in every other aspect of life may not be enough to thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In December, Gorman, who served as CEO of Coldwell Banker for three years, was removed from the position. In his post, Gorman said he was motivated to help people \u2014 and his \u201ctermination\u201d from Coldwell Banker has provided him with the chance to focus on other projects, including <strong>btcRE,<\/strong> a real estate consultancy firm he founded over 10 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although Gorman did not go into detail about what he referred to as \u201cmy recent termination,\u201d he suggested on multiple occasions that his departure from Coldwell Banker was not by his choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe path home has been cleared,\u201d he wrote, \u201cnot by choice, yet cleared nonetheless.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite sharing that his departure from Coldwell Banker was not his choice, Gorman expressed gratitude toward Coldwell Banker in his post, writing that he was \u201cblessed to call Coldwell Banker homes,\u201d and that he has \u201ccountless fond memories, a tremendous sense of collective accomplishment, and a richness of friendships beyond measure. I am forever indebted to Coldwell Banker.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Coldwell Banker and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtrends.com\/blog\/articles\/anywhere-real-estate-makes-another-round-of-cuts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Anywhere Real Estate<\/a><\/strong> employee for nearly two decades, Gorman wrote in the post that he had avoided starting real estate development projects while at Anywhere due to perceived conflicts of interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moving forward, Gorman wrote that he is investing more time into btcRE, a firm he said would focus on \u201caffordable, accessible, and equitable housing,\u201d including site development, property management, as well as potentially lobbying for policies that make it simple to create affordable housing in all neighborhoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe will redevelop properties to create housing that is affordable in every respect, including access to efficient energy, transportation, and even grocery alternatives,\u201d he said. \u201cWe will accept advisory appointments, investment opportunities, and even speaking engagements with housing organizations that share our values to forward the mission.
