As interim chief economist, Hepp led the economics team, which analyzes data on housing and economic trends in the real estate, mortgage and insurance industriesto create forecasts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hepp focuses on property data and provides monthly updates on the CoreLogic Case-Shiller Index, underscoring the relationship between appreciation and home equity wealth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am honored and thrilled to lead our team as we continue to generate industry-leading, data-driven insights and thought-provoking perspectives on all things housing,\u201d Hepp said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hepp has held other positions at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtrends.com\/blog\/articles\/corelogic-releases-2022-housing-trends-wrap-up\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CoreLogic<\/a> since joining the company in 2020, including deputy chief economist and executive of research and insights in the office of the chief economist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs a well-respected thought leader in the housing industry, Selma\u2019s analytical expertise will produce insights to help our clients and other stakeholders better navigate today\u2019s dynamic real estate environment,\u201d CoreLogic president and CEO Patrick Dodd said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hepp\u2019s professional career spans about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/selma-hepp-phd-11b0773a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">two decades<\/a> in the real estate space, with a four-year stint as the chief economist and vice president of business intelligence for <strong>Pacific Union International,<\/strong> a company later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/sanfrancisco\/news\/2018\/08\/29\/compass-acquires-pacific-union.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">acquired<\/a> by <strong>Compass <\/strong>in 2018. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, Hepp worked as chief economist at <strong>Zillow<\/strong> subsidiary <strong>Trulia, <\/strong>senior economist at the <strong>California Association of Realtors, <\/strong>economist and manager of public policy and homeownership at <strong>National Association of Realtors, <\/strong>and had brief stints at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as a special research assistant and at <strong>CENTURY 21 <\/strong>as a real estate agent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hepp has also served as an adjunct faculty member at <strong>George Washington University <\/strong>and the <strong>University of Maryland, <\/strong>where she completed her Ph.D. She is currently serving as the president of the Los Angeles chapter of the <strong>National Association of Business Economics,<\/strong> co-chair of the <strong>Real Estate Roundtable<\/strong> and a member of the <strong>Business Conditions Survey <\/strong>committee.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2022, Hepp was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/winner-profile\/2022-woman-of-influence-selma-hepp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">featured<\/a> among <strong>HousingWire\u2019s<\/strong> 2022 Woman of Influence <a href=\"https:\/\/www.housingwire.com\/articles\/announcing-the-2022-women-of-influence\/#:~:text=Following%20last%20year's%20stories%20of,for%20those%20who%20will%20follow.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">honorees.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGiven the challenges of today\u2019s housing market, CoreLogic\u2019s depth, wealth and consistency of data position us to provide clear and actionable views on the property ecosystem and bring value to our clients and broader markets,\u201d she said in the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CoreLogic collects data from regular economic reports and other sources, with more than 4.5 billion records spanning five decades, as well as analyses from the company\u2019s office of the chief economist.
