{"id":3897,"date":"2023-01-23T20:57:23","date_gmt":"2023-01-23T20:57:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.realtrends.com\/blog\/2023\/01\/23\/inside-real-estate-cuts-workforce-shortly-after-boomtown-acquisition\/"},"modified":"2025-03-13T02:48:48","modified_gmt":"2025-03-13T02:48:48","slug":"inside-real-estate-cuts-workforce-shortly-after-boomtown-acquisition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.realtrends.com\/blog\/2023\/01\/23\/inside-real-estate-cuts-workforce-shortly-after-boomtown-acquisition\/","title":{"rendered":"Inside Real Estate cuts workforce shortly after BoomTown acquisition"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Just days after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtrends.com\/blog\/articles\/inside-real-estate-acquires-fellow-proptech-firm-boomtown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">acquiring<\/a> proptech firm <strong>BoomTown<\/strong>, <strong>Inside Real Estate<\/strong> has cut its workforce, as first reported by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inman.com\/2023\/01\/23\/inside-real-estate-reduces-staff-following-boomtown-acquisition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Inman News<\/a>.<\/strong> &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <strong>LinkedIn<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/davidkim7773_layoffs-frontend-fullstack-activity-7023327810601582593-T-dR?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=member_desktop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">posts<\/a> from former BoomTown employees, the layoffs occurred in the latter half of last week \u2014 at roughly the same time as the closure of Inside Real Estate&#8217;s BoomTown acquisition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Joe Skousen, the CEO of Inside Real Estate, told Inman that the cuts were the result of overlapping positions following the finalization of the acquisition. Skousen would not comment on the size of the layoff or highlight what departments were impacted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGiven the combination of two meaningfully sized companies in the space, we made the difficult decision to eliminate certain redundant positions between the two organizations,\u201d Skousen told Inman. \u201cAll impacted employees were notified and provided with severance packages last week.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to data from Inside Real Estate, the firm\u2019s employee count was expected to grow to roughly 700 due to the acquisition of BoomTown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re bringing these two industry leaders together, and we\u2019re pumped about it,\u201d Skousen said at the time of the acquisition. \u201cWe\u2019ve observed and respected each other for years, and it\u2019s certainly not the first time I\u2019ve thought these companies would make sense if together. The DNA of the companies really lines up.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A public announcement of Inside Real Estate\u2019s acquisition of BoomTown will occur on Tuesday at Inman Connect New
