Rounding out the Board is pet-insurance veteran&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/houwzer.com\/news\/petplan-co-founder-natasha-ashton-joins-houwzers-board\">Natasha Ashton<\/a>&nbsp;(former Co-Founder of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gopetplan.com\/\">PetPlan<\/a>) and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.edisonpartners.com\/team\/michael-kopelman\">Michael Kopelman<\/a>, General Partner and FinTech lead at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.edisonpartners.com\/\">Edison Partners<\/a>, the Princeton-based growth equity firm that led Houwzer\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/news.crunchbase.com\/news\/philadelphia-based-houwzer-raises-9-5m-for-online-real-estate-platform\/\">Series A<\/a>&nbsp;funding round just over a year ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s been a lot of attention paid to the iBuyer model, but not enough focus on next-gen brokerage models like Houwzer,\u201d said Young. \u201cHouwzer truly offers the consumer all the benefits you get from a technology company but coupled with experienced, well-trained, full-service real estate agents. With increased commission compression and growing scrutiny of the 1099 independent contractor model, Houwzer\u2019s flat-fee, salaried agent model is the future of real estate brokerage.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A veteran of both the mortgage and real estate industries, Charlie Young joined <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtrends.com\/blog\/coldwell-banker-unveils-new-logo-as-part-of-rebranding-initiative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Coldwell Banker<\/a> \u2013 one of the world&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtrends.com\/blog\/coldwell-banker-launches-free-virtual-education-expo-guiding-real-estate-industry-during-covid-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">leading real estate brokerage franchises<\/a> \u2013\u00a0 in 2004, first as SVP, Marketing and was ultimately promoted to President and CEO in 2016. Young stepped down from his role in 2020, but continues to be a prominent voice in the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Houwzer claims that it is &#8220;exposing industry flaws and flipping the traditional brokerage model on its head, so adding a heavyweight from one of the oldest and most established traditional real estate brands validates its differentiation.&#8221; Houwzer offers a flat $5,000 listing fee and provides agents a base salary with benefits. Like many other brokerages, they offer technology to streamline the transaction, and have mortgage and title in-house. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve never seen agent productivity numbers this high \u2013\u00a0and especially at the level of customer service they\u2019re delivering,\u201d said Charlie Young. \u201cTheir mortgage and title attach rates are also the best I\u2019ve seen over my career and across the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTraditional brokerages put the agent first, but there\u2019s no real connection to the customer,\u201d said Young. \u201cOther models attempt to put the customer first but intentionally cut out the real estate agent. Houwzer puts both the agent and the customer first. It\u2019s the first model I\u2019ve seen that elegantly restructures the relationship between the broker, the agent, and the customer \u2014 so everyone wins.
