We have commented before that, from our perspective, there are <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"brokerage-benchmark-podcast\">three main things<\/a><\/span> a brokerage has to do to succeed: recruit talent, develop that talent and spend less than you have coming in.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtrends.com\/blog\/publications\/newsletter\/\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>READ MORE: Download The REAL Trends April Newsletter&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">Based on a simple analysis of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtrends.com\/blog\/rankings\/rt500\/\">REAL Trends 500 data <\/a>for the last five years, the abundance of focus on recruiting or the lack thereof is beginning to show up in the numbers. For example:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><strong>2012 \u2013 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\">NAR membership +36.0%<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><strong>REAL Trends 500 agent count +48.9%<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\">New and existing home sales +12.5%<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><strong>REAL Trends 500 home sales +34.8%<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtrends.com\/blog\/top-10-real-trends-500-volume-2018\/\">The REAL Trends 500<\/a> beat the national growth rates in both categories\u2014by a long shot. Nearly 35.4 percent of all new Realtor<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> membership over the past five years has joined a firm ranked in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtrends.com\/blog\/top-10-real-trends-500-sides-2018\/\">REAL Trends 500.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\">But looked at somewhat differently, we show the following:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\">NAR membership +36.0%<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><strong>REAL Trends 500 (without one company) +29.8%<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\">New and Existing home sales +12.5%<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><strong>REAL Trends 500 (without one company) +18.6%<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\">One national company grew its agent counts by 162.1 percent and grew its closed sides by 147.1 percent.
