The Midwest (2.4 percent) and Northeast (0.2 percent) also had slight year-over-year increases.<\/p>\n<p>Showing activity in the West Region dropped 5.2 percent compared to May 2017, marking its fourth consecutive year-over-year monthly decrease.<\/p>\n<p>ShowingTime Chief Analytics Officer Daniil Cherkasskiy said May 2018\u2019s numbers are mostly comparable to the previous year, with the exception of the West.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-47793 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.realtrends.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/01\/Screen-Shot-2018-07-06-at-8_40_34-AM.png\" alt=\"Low Inventory\" width=\"1032\" height=\"798\"><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile the spring season saw a substantially higher level of buyer traffic, May numbers came mostly in line with the levels experienced last year,\u201d Cherkasskiy said. \u201cActivity was up slightly year over year in the Midwest, South, and Northeast, while the West Region declined.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ShowingTime Showing Index, the first of its kind in the residential real estate industry, is compiled using data from property showings scheduled across the country on listings using ShowingTime products and services, which facilitate more than 4 million showings each month.<\/p>\n<p>Released the third week of each month, the Showing Index tracks the average number of appointments received on an active listing during the month.
