With low inventory and sustained buyer demand, traffic jumped 64.1 percent year-over-year nationwide.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"vertical-align: middle;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; color: black;\">\u201cAll but one of the top 20 markets with the heaviest buyer traffic recorded double-digit showings per listing in September, well above the current U.S. average of six showings per listing,\u201d said Michael Lane, President of ShowingTime. \u201cThat number more than doubled in several markets from the same time last year, despite the pandemic.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; color: black;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"vertical-align: middle;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; color: black;\">Meanwhile, some communities along the beleaguered Gulf Coast \u2013 hit hard by Hurricane Laura at the end of August and Hurricane Delta in early October \u2013 experienced year-over-year declines in showings. Nevertheless, Louisiana is tracking ahead of 2019 figures for showing activity in what has proven to be a resilient real estate market.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"vertical-align: middle;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; color: black;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.realtrends.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/01\/Screen-Shot-2020-11-05-at-8.24.06-AM.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2020-11-05 at 8.24.06 AM\" width=\"588\" style=\"width: 588px; display: block; margin: 0px auto;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"vertical-align: middle;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; color: black;\">\u201cIn September, we saw a normal seasonal slowdown of about 8 percent from August,\u201d said ShowingTime Chief Analytics Officer Daniil Cherkasskiy. \u201cDue to much lower levels of available inventory, however, showing activity is still significantly above last year\u2019s values, a situation that is likely to persist through next May.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"vertical-align: middle;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; color: black;\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; color: black;\">The Northeast Region saw a year-over-year increase in buyer traffic of 68.4 percent in September, marking the fourth consecutive month the region recorded the largest jump in showing activity. The West\u2019s 65.3 percent uptick followed, with the Midwest\u2019s 61.6 percent rise and the South\u2019s climb of 60.8 percent both close behind. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; color: black;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"vertical-align: middle;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; color: black;\">\u201cThe showing traffic data suggests that buyers and sellers alike are undeterred from completing their real estate transactions,\u201d added Lane. \u201cIt\u2019s clear that real estate professionals have made adjustments and increased their efforts to make the most of this market.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"vertical-align: middle;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; color: black;\">The ShowingTime Showing Index is compiled using data from more than six million property showings scheduled across the country each month on listings using ShowingTime products and services.
