{"id":1293,"date":"2018-11-28T16:47:00","date_gmt":"2018-11-28T16:47:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.realtrends.com\/blog\/2018\/11\/28\/baldwin-county-association-health-plan\/"},"modified":"2025-03-13T02:20:17","modified_gmt":"2025-03-13T02:20:17","slug":"baldwin-county-association-health-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.realtrends.com\/blog\/2018\/11\/28\/baldwin-county-association-health-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"Baldwin County Association of Realtors First to Offer Health Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Realtor Association Becomes First In the Nation to Offer a Health Plan<\/h2>\n<h6><em>The Baldwin County Association of Realtors will offer group health, dental and vision insurance to its 2,300 members.<\/em><\/h6>\n<div class=\"fullText\">\n<p>What was thought to be impossible is now possible at the Baldwin REALTORS\u00ae in Robertsdale: group health insurance is now a benefit offered through association membership.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.baldwinrealtors.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-52584 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.realtrends.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/01\/Baldwin-Realtors.png\" alt=\"Baldwin REALTORS\u00ae\" width=\"227\" height=\"72\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Baldwin REALTORS\u00ae is the second trade association in the state and the first REALTOR\u00ae association in the nation to offer this long-awaited benefit to its members.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cBeing able to offer to offer health, dental, and vision insurance to our membership is one of the most defying accomplishments of my career,\u201d said Sheila Dodson, CEO of Baldwin REALTORS\u00ae. \u201cKnowing that independent contractors are not able to provide for their families or themselves in this vital way has always been a difficult problem for the REALTOR\u00ae industry. It is great to partner with Blue Cross and Blue Shield to offer premium coverage for our members, affiliates, and their staffs.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On June 21 of this year, the US Department of Labor issued a new rule, opening the door for small employers and self-employed individuals, including <a href=\"real-estate-professionals-motivation\/\">real estate professionals<\/a>, to participate in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dol.gov\/general\/topic\/association-health-plans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Association Health Plans<\/a> (AHPs).<\/p>\n<p>AHPs are &#8220;large group&#8221; plans that tend to offer better coverage options at a lower cost than the &#8220;individual&#8221; and &#8220;small group&#8221; insurance markets. Currently, many NAR members typically purchase their health coverage in the individual or small group markets, which tend to have higher costs and limited options.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cA tremendous amount of care and diligence by Baldwin REALTORS\u00ae Leadership has made it possible to provide a premium and comprehensive health care plan to our members through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama,\u201d said Kandy Hines, 2019 Baldwin REALTORS\u00ae President. \u201cThis never-before opportunity affords tremendous savings for so many of our members and their families.&nbsp;This is an exciting time and a monumental milestone for the Baldwin REALTORS\u00ae association.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This is a unique opportunity for Baldwin REALTORS\u00ae to give back to its membership.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cProviding group health insurance benefits is going to be life changing for many of our members and their families,\u201d said Troy Wilson, 2018 Baldwin REALTORS\u00ae President. \u201cFor many, this is the beginning to having health insurance with affordable premiums and enhanced coverage that financially was not an option for them before.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis type of benefit, when utilized, can deliver value daily that is impossible to fully quantify.
