Technology Showcase: VR Maker

VR Maker is an application which allows real estate professionals to create a 360-degree listing presentation from your smartphone.

The Challenge:

VR Maker’s goal is to make virtual reality home tours cheaper and less time intensive for real estate professionals. One aspect of this product compared to others on the market is its “all-in-one” capabilities. Here are a few of the benefits included with VR Maker:

VR Maker

  • A 720-degree clip on smartphone camera lens, twice as wide as a 360-degree lens, perfect for capturing panoramas.
  • A camera capture rotator, which stabilizes your smartphone and decreases your center of rotation, meaning no stitching errors, even on close-range objects.
  • Up to 8K resolution capture
  • Custom brand all videos
  • A VR editor which allow the addition of floor plans, hotspots, and panorama tagging

How it works:

VR maker is pretty streamlined and easy to use. First, you sign up at their iStaging website, and you get a 720-degree camera attachment for your smartphone and a rotator unit for which you mount your smartphone. Then you install the VR Maker application, make sure that everything is connected and click “capture” to let the rotator and the camera start the process. VR Maker then pieces together a distortion-free, 360-degree picture of entire rooms. Just place the platform in the middle of the room, and the rotator/camera will capture the room in one to two shots, and piece them together before your eyes.

VR Maker and Real Estate:

VR Maker allows real estate professional to reach prospects anywhere. Do you live in a place like San Francisco or Seattle with many foreign investors? This platform might be for you. Sure VR is not a necessity, but it will surely make you stand out amongst the competition. Other platforms require much more work on the end of the realtor, sometimes having to upload 100 pictures to get a walkthrough video, with VR Maker, the process has become much more streamlined. Real estate professionals who want to get started with VR Maker can do so for free (3 tours hosted) or take advantage of the paid package (comes with most benefits) for $29 per month.
