Mortgages Rates Surpass 4% for First Time Since October

The nation's average mortgage rates are catching up with increases in U.S. Treasury bond yields as the average 30-year, fixed-rate mortgage passed 4% for the first time since the end of October.

The Freddie Mac survey showed the 30-year, fixed-rate mortgage averaged 4.08% for the week ending Thursday, up from the prior week's average of 3.92%. Last year at this time, the 30-year FRM averaged 4.81%.
